What QR code subscriptions cost in 2026, and what happens when you cancel
Disclosure: I make my own QR code software, which isn't included in this comparison. Prices and cancellation terms below come from each vendor's own pricing page and FAQ. I didn't cancel a paid plan to test it.

$60-$120 / year
The range of the cheapest paid plan across the four, billed yearly.
Short version
- Entry plans run $60 to $120 a year, and the cheapest ones include only 2 to 15 editable codes.
- If you stop paying, your editable (dynamic) codes stop working. Uniqode and QR TIGER both say so in their own FAQs.
- You may not need a subscription at all. A plain (static) QR code costs nothing, never expires, and keeps working forever. You only need to pay if you must change where the code points after printing it, or you need scan statistics.
The prices, side by side

Each service in more detail
Uniqode (formerly Beaconstac)
- Plans: Essential $9/month, Core $49, Plus $99, Business+ $399, all "USD/month, billed yearly". That's $108 to $4,788 a year.
- Codes: 15 dynamic codes on Essential, 250 on Core, 500 on Plus, 2,000 on Business+. Scan history is kept 60 days on Essential, 90 on Core, 180 on Plus.
- Billing: yearly only. Their FAQ: "We currently only offer annual subscription plans."
- Try first: 14-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- If you cancel: their FAQ answers it directly: "For your QR Codes to work, the account linked to them has to stay active."
QR TIGER
- Plans: Regular $65/year (or $7/month), Advanced $16/month billed yearly ($192/year), Premium $37/month billed yearly ($444/year).
- Free plan: 3 dynamic codes with limited scans, no card needed.
- If you cancel: their FAQ: "Your QR codes will only stop working once the plan expires."
QR Code Generator (QRCG, by Bitly)
- Plans: Starter $119.88/year, Advanced $227.88/year, Professional $599.88/year. Only Starter can be paid monthly; the page says yearly billing saves 50%.
- Codes: just 2 dynamic codes on Starter, 50 on Advanced, 250 on Professional.
- Cancelling takes notice: plans renew automatically, and you must cancel at least 30 days before the billing cycle ends. You can upgrade any time, but can only downgrade after your first contract period.
- If you cancel: the pricing page doesn't say what happens to your codes.
Scanova
- Plans (billed yearly): Basic $5/month (3 codes), Lite $9/month (10 codes), Standard $35/month (50 codes), Pro $75/month (500 codes). That's $60 to $900 a year.
- One-time option: "Ultra Lite" is $150 once for a single dynamic code "with lifetime validity". It's the only plan here that doesn't charge every year.
- Price change: in July 2026 Scanova's Lite plan was $4/month billed yearly. It's now $9.
Do you actually need a subscription?
There are two kinds of QR code:
- Static: the link is stored inside the code itself. It works forever, costs nothing, and no company can switch it off. You can't change where it points after printing, and you get no scan counts.
- Dynamic: the code points to the vendor's server, which forwards people to your link. You can change the destination and see scan statistics, but the code only works while you keep paying.
Pay for dynamic codes only if the destination will change after you print (menus, campaigns, packaging that stays out for years), or you need scan numbers. For a business card, a Wi-Fi sign, or a link that won't change, a free static code does the job and never expires.
Which one I'd pick
- Cheapest way to get editable codes: QR TIGER at $65 a year, or its free plan if 3 codes with limited scans are enough.
- Most codes for an entry price: Uniqode Essential, 15 codes for $108 a year, with a free trial first.
- One code that must keep working without a yearly bill: Scanova's $150 one-time plan.
- Read the fine print first: QR Code Generator's Starter plan costs the most of the four entry plans and includes only 2 editable codes, with a 30-day cancellation notice.
